Supportive measures are reasonably available non-disciplinary, non-punitive, individualized support services available to students, staff, academic personnel, administrators, patients and other UCLA community members who report sexual harassment, sexual violence or other discrimination, harassment, or retaliation related to one or more protected characteristics (defined in University Policy). Supportive measures are designed to (a) address the physical safety and emotional well-being of UCLA community members; (b) restore or preserve equal access to University programs, services and activities (including employment and education) without unreasonably burdening the other party; and (c) deter discrimination, harassment or retaliation.

Who Can Access Supportive Measures

Reasonable supportive measures are available for:

  • Complainants (individuals who are reported to have experienced Prohibited Conduct)
  • Respondents (individuals who are reported to have engaged in Prohibited Conduct)
  • Witnesses (when appropriate)
  • Other members of the UCLA community (when appropriate)

How to Access Supportive Measures

UCLA community members can access reasonable supportive measures through a Confidential Resource or by making a report to CRO. Supportive measures are available regardless of whether an individual chooses to participate in an investigation. They are provided as appropriate and reasonably available, and are free of charge. They may be available before, during, or after a resolution process.

Keep in mind that making a report is not the same as making a formal complaint and does not necessarily lead to an investigation. Students, staff and academic personnel may choose to only access supportive measures and not participate in a resolution process, such as a formal investigation process. CRO will strive to honor a person’s preferred course of action whenever possible.
